1. Who we are and what this is
MRKZD ("MRKZD", "we", "us", "our") is a professional community platform for verified professionals in the United Arab Emirates. It is operated by MRKZD.COM, a company registered in Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park Free Zone under trade licence number 103966, with a registered address at Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park Free Zone.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the MRKZD website, mobile applications, and any related services (together, the "Platform").
By applying to join, creating an account, or using the Platform in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Verification Policy, each of which forms part of your agreement with us.
2. Who can join
To use MRKZD you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a working professional, currently or recently active in a field we support
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself
- Complete our verification process, including a verification call
- Not have been previously removed from the Platform
Membership is currently limited to Human Resources and People Operations professionals. We will open to additional fields over time. Membership is currently focused on professionals based in or working with the United Arab Emirates.
Acceptance is at our sole discretion. Completing an application does not entitle you to membership. We may decline any application without giving a reason, and we are not obliged to explain our decision.
3. Your account
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. That means:
- Keep your password confidential and do not share your login with anyone
- Do not create more than one account, or create an account on behalf of someone else
- Tell us immediately at legal@mrkzd.com if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission
- Keep your profile information accurate and up to date
We may suspend or close your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law, or if we believe your continued membership presents a risk to other members.
You can close your account at any time through your settings, or by emailing legal@mrkzd.com.
4. What verification means — and what it does not
MRKZD members display a "Verified" badge once they have completed our verification process.
Verification means we have confirmed the member's identity, reviewed their stated role and professional background against publicly available information, and held a conversation with them.
Verification does not mean that we have audited their qualifications, confirmed their certifications with issuing bodies, conducted a criminal or financial background check, assessed their competence, or endorsed them in any way.
Our full Verification Policy explains this in detail. Read it before relying on a verified badge.
You are responsible for your own due diligence. If you engage another member for work, advice, or any other purpose, you do so entirely at your own risk. MRKZD is not a party to any arrangement between members and takes no responsibility for the outcome.
5. Content you post
Your content stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you post — discussions, replies, profile information, event listings, and anything else ("Your Content").
The licence you give us
By posting Your Content, you grant MRKZD a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform. This licence continues for as long as Your Content remains on the Platform.
If you delete Your Content or close your account, this licence ends, except that copies may remain in our backups for a reasonable period, and replies or quotations by other members may persist.
What you promise about your content
By posting, you confirm that:
- You have the right to post it
- It does not infringe anyone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
- It does not contain confidential information belonging to your employer, a client, or any third party
- It is not false, misleading, defamatory, or unlawful
- It does not contain personal data about another individual that you are not entitled to share
What you must not post
You must not post content that:
- Names or identifies an individual or organisation in an accusatory, disparaging, or defamatory way
- Discloses confidential business information, employee records, salary data attributable to identifiable individuals, or anything covered by a non-disclosure obligation
- Is discriminatory, harassing, threatening, or hateful
- Promotes or facilitates illegal activity
- Is spam, unsolicited advertising, or repetitive promotional material
- Impersonates another person or organisation
- Contains malware, or attempts to compromise the Platform or other members' accounts
- Breaches UAE law, including laws on defamation, cybercrime, and public morality
Our Community Guidelines set out these expectations in more practical detail.
Anonymous posting
The Platform allows verified members to post and reply anonymously. When you do, your name and photo are hidden from other members, and you are shown only as a verified professional with your emirate and years of experience.
Anonymity is not confidentiality from us. We retain a record of who posted what. We will access that record where we reasonably need to for moderation, investigating a complaint, or complying with a legal obligation or a lawful request from a competent authority. Our Content Moderation Policy explains when and how.
Anonymity does not reduce your responsibility for what you post. Everything in these Terms applies equally to anonymous content, and UAE law on defamation and cybercrime applies to you personally regardless of whether your name appears.
6. Moderation and removal
We may remove any content, at any time, for any reason, without notice. We are under no obligation to monitor content, but we reserve the right to.
We may also:
- Issue warnings
- Restrict your ability to post
- Suspend your account temporarily
- Remove your account permanently
If your account is removed, you lose access to the Platform and any content you posted may be removed or may remain, at our discretion.
If you believe content on the Platform breaches these Terms or the law, report it through the in-platform reporting tool or email legal@mrkzd.com.
7. Events
Members may post events to the Platform. These events are organised by the member or a third party, not by MRKZD, unless we explicitly say otherwise.
Registration for events takes place on external websites operated by the organiser. When you follow a registration link, you leave MRKZD and become subject to that site's terms and privacy practices.
We do not vet events. We do not verify that an event will take place, that it will be as described, that the organiser is legitimate, or that any payment you make will be honoured. We are not responsible for anything that happens at or in connection with an event listed on the Platform.
If an event listing is inaccurate or misleading, report it to legal@mrkzd.com.
8. Features not yet available
Some features are described on the Platform as "Coming Soon", including bookings, paid services, and general member access for people seeking to hire professionals.
These features are not currently available. We make no commitment as to whether or when they will launch, and we may change or abandon them entirely. Nothing on the Platform describing a future feature creates any obligation on us.
9. Fees
Membership is currently free.
We may introduce fees for some features in the future. If we do, we will give you clear notice before any charge applies to you, and you will be able to decline and continue using whatever free features remain available.
10. Our intellectual property
The MRKZD name, logo, brand, design, software, and all other materials on the Platform (other than Your Content and other members' content) belong to us or our licensors.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, scrape, or create derivative works from the Platform without our written permission.
You may not use automated tools to extract member data, profile information, or content from the Platform. This includes scraping, crawling, and bulk downloading.
11. What we do not promise
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available".
We do not promise that:
- The Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Information posted by members is accurate, complete, or reliable
- Any member is who they claim to be beyond what our verification process establishes
- You will find clients, work, connections, or any other outcome through the Platform
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, whether express or implied.
12. Our liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UAE law:
- We are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill, or data
- We are not liable for anything arising out of your dealings with another member
- We are not liable for the accuracy or consequences of anything posted by a member
- We are not liable for events listed on the Platform
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to AED 1,000, or the total amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Your liability to us
You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms or any policy that forms part of them
- Content you post
- Your dealings with other members
- Your breach of any law
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or through the Platform at least 14 days before it takes effect.
Continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, close your account.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Sharjah.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [JURISDICTION].
Before starting any formal proceedings, both of us agree to try to resolve the matter in good faith. Write to legal@mrkzd.com setting out the issue, and we will respond within 30 days.
